In October 2017, thinking of the professional market, Samsung launched a tablet with S-pen and an ultra-rugged design, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2. Among other features, this device had an 8-inch HD + screen, IP68 certification and military protection MIL-STD-810.
Precisely these last two features referring to its off-road facet are those that remain in its successor, the Galaxy Tab Active Pro, which Samsung has presented at IFA two years after its predecessor. The main difference? That the new tablet mounts a 10-inch screen and is compatible with Samsung DeX.

A design that is proof of everything
Unlike the Tab Active 2 model, the new Galaxy Tab Active 2 has a larger, 10-inch screen, with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels of resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. This will facilitate its use with Samsung DeX, so it is possible to connect an external display to work with a dual monitor.
The display promises 550 nits of brightness to improve visibility outside and use it with both wet fingers and gloves. In this sense, it has an easily accessible S Pen (housed in the upper left corner) and keys below the screen for basic navigation.
In order to withstand extreme working conditions, the Galaxy Tab Active Pro has the IP68 certification of dust and water resistance and has passed the tests of the military standard MIL-STD-810G, so it endures drops from 1, 2 meters high and vibrations.
In the technical section, it includes 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, plus a MicroSD slot for up to 512 GB more. Samsung has not confirmed which chipset it will carry on board, but according to data from Geekbench, it should be a Snapdragon 710. It is released with Android 9 Factory Pie and a user-replaceable 7,600 mAh battery. As for its photographic facet, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front.
Versions and prices of the Galaxy Tab Active Pro
Samsung has presented the Galaxy Tab Active in Germany and will be there when it will go on sale from October 1. It will be available in version only WiFi or WiFi + LTE, with a price of 599 and 679 euros respectively. And two aspects to consider: Samsung insists on its commercial use (not intended for the general public) and commits to 4 years of software updates.
