Samsung Galaxy A80

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is ready to face the great colossi of the mid-range. And weapons are not lacking: big screen, triple camera …

There are few smartphone manufacturers that dominate all ranges of phones, from the lowest to the most “premium”. Samsung is one of those brands, although it is undeniable that in recent years it has lost potential in the most accessible segments of the catalogue. This loss has its own names: Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor… So the time has come to fight back.

Samsung is thoroughly renewing the Galaxy A range to offer all its design and manufacturing experience by improving the quality/price ratio of smartphones, a relationship in which it has been surpassed as a manufacturer. The Samsung Galaxy A80 is the sign that it is possible to get a good mobile at an affordable price.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is already official. And it comes with a sheet of features where its huge 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen stands out, the front panel maximized by the panel and the motorized camera that is deployed by sliding the phone. The bet is risky, also innovative.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Features

The mobile immediately attracts the view with that huge front where the 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen dominates almost all the space with authority. And it is enough to deploy the camera of selfies to discover the magic:  the triple chamber block turns around to point forward. It is not the first solution of this type since the rotating cameras were previously used (in the OPPO N3, for example), but Samsung does improve the space allocated to the cameras so that it does not thicken the final dimensions of the device.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is not just a rotating camera, then you have the rest of the features:

  • Processor  – Qualcomm Snapdragon 730.
    • 2x ARM Cortex-A73 at 2.2 GHz.
    • 6x ARM Cortex-A53 at 1.6 GHz.

Samsung has found a way to innovate in the mid-range with a design that goes beyond the usual brand. Mobile elements, front without any obstacle, fast loading of 25 W … There is no doubt that you intend to give a good boost to your intermediate catalogue, even with elements that have not released the Galaxy S or Note.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 is not one of the brand’s most powerful mobiles, but it is enough and enough to offer a very good user experience; with special applications in the multimedia field since the screen favours that type of consumption. In addition, the materials make a leap with respect to the use of ” classic ” in the lower Galaxy A (a combination of plastic and glass) to include an aluminium frame with the plastic back face. Too bad the wireless charge is reserved for the highest range.

In the photographic field, one of the keys is that the mobile offers the same performance for “normal” photos as for selfies. Since the triple rear camera block is rotatable, the owners of a Samsung Galaxy A80 will take self-portraits without worrying about the quality of the photos since it will be exact to the rest of the images. This is an advantage for selfies; with the disadvantage that having mobile elements adds certain doubts to the duration of the phone.

The included triple sensor offers a 48 Mpx camera that combines 4 pixels in 1 for greater detail and maximum illumination. It is accompanied by an 8 Mpx sensor with ultra-wide-angle optics and a third sensor dedicated to capturing depth. This is a great help for portraits and also for dynamic approach; two elements that can be used in selfies thanks to the rotating mechanism.
