The Nova series, which initially targeted the female consumer group, has grown into one of Huawei’s product lines that contribute significantly to sales. And this afternoon, the latest Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro in the series are on the scene. The two phones are basically the same in appearance, and they all use the “classic” design of the water-screen, screen fingerprint and vertical multi-camera camera. Among them, Nova 5 will provide three colors of black, purple and green. On this basis, the Pro model will add a coral orange for consumers to choose.

In terms of specifications, Nova 5 launched Huawei’s self-produced Kirin 810 processor. The chip is based on a 7nm process with two 2.27GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 1.88GHz A55 cores. The GPU uses the Mali-G52 (MP6) and Huawei’s self-developed DaVinci architecture NPU. In terms of positioning, the Kirin 810 is probably in the same position as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G, and it is also in line with the Nova 5 mid-level positioning.

In contrast, the Kirin 980 on the Nova 5 Pro is the current flagship. Both phones are equipped with a 6.39-inch 2,340 x 1,080 OLED screen with a battery capacity of 3,500 mAh and support for up to 40W fast charging. The camera part of the Nova 5 series is backed by a four-camera combination, with the main camera using a 48MP IMX586 sensor with an f/1.8 lens, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP blur and macro camera. As for the self-timer camera, both models are equipped with 32MP CMOS, and the Pro model has one more NFC than the standard version.
